Recipe adapted from Food.com Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce

  • Prep Time: 10 mins

  • Cooking Time: 27 mins

  • Total Time: 37 mins

  • Yield: 5 cups

  • Serving Size: 1 tablespoon

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 sweet onion, diced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 cup Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey

  • 24 oz ketchup

  • 1/4 cup vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/2 brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS
  • In a medium saucepan, combine onion, garlic and whiskey. Simmer over medium heat for about 7 minutes or until the onion is translucent.

  • Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.

  • Puree using an immersion blender or food processor.

  • Refrigerate for at least 1 day to blend the flavors.

NOTES

Often times I omit the tomato paste and there is no noticeable difference. If you wish to have a regular JD BBQ sauce you can swap the 1/4 cup of honey for brown sugar and use regular Jack Daniels Whiskey.
