Recipe adapted from Food.com Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 27 mins
Total Time: 37 mins
Yield: 5 cups
Serving Size: 1 tablespoon
INGREDIENTS
1/2 sweet onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey
24 oz ketchup
1/4 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup honey
1/2 brown sugar
2 tablespoons liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS
In a medium saucepan, combine onion, garlic and whiskey. Simmer over medium heat for about 7 minutes or until the onion is translucent.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.
Puree using an immersion blender or food processor.
Refrigerate for at least 1 day to blend the flavors.
NOTES
Often times I omit the tomato paste and there is no noticeable difference. If you wish to have a regular JD BBQ sauce you can swap the 1/4 cup of honey for brown sugar and use regular Jack Daniels Whiskey.
